We've decided to finally tackle remodeling our guest bathroom. After a year and a half of a leaky toilet, peeling wallpaper, and ugly linoleum we felt it was high time to pimp it out. Scott's favorite part is always demolition...
He took care of most of the demo, I helped with clean up and some painting but someone has to keep an eye on Aidan so he doesn't get into the mess!
Scott did a great job cleaning up the walls with his new favorite toy, an orbital sander :) We chose a nice calming blue color when he finished with the drywall.
We'll put up more pics of the bathroom as we make progress.
In the meantime I'll be starting work full-time next week. I've currently been working only part-time but I'm excited and I love my job helping home child care providers and centers provide quality care for children and their parents, one of many things my agency does to improve early childhood education in Florida. I won't drown you with details but my employer is a non-profit resource and referral agency that provides funding to parents who cannot afford childcare but need it in order to work. A much much needed resource in this economy and something I'm excited to see President Obama supporting!
Aidan has discovered his teeth and we've been working on brushing them. Everytime I say the word "teeth" he puts his finger in his mouth, he likes the toothbrush......
He's been learning where different parts of his body are and thinks it's fun to run around the house naked after he takes a bath. Oh and he's discovered the toilet....and I DON'T mean he's gifted and has potty trained himself already. I unfortunately found two of my shoes floating in the toilet last week :oP
Happy New year everyone. It's about 5:30 in the morning, I just got back from a run, and I saw the perfect opportunity to update you on what happened during our holiday celebrations. Give yourself a few minutes this entry is jam packed with pictures and video, we had A LOT of fun!
Aidan helped me decorate the tree this year a little bit, but mostly played with the lights and ornaments!
We didn't stay home this year though to enjoy our beautiful tree because we flew to Wisconsin to spend Christmas with our families. The plane rides there went well and Aidan enjoyed walking around the terminals. He's perfected walking, as much as a one year old can, and he's starting to run now too!
We spent the first half of our trip with Scott's family where Aidan enjoyed playing with a very cool wooden train. It was his favorite for several days!
He also had his first chance to play in the snow! He played in it like it was sand then later fell face first into it and realized it was cold!! He enjoyed himself though.
We spent one night at a hotel in a nearby town that is very waterpark like inside. They had basketball and slides in the pool and a special kids pool with fountains and a slide. Aidan's favorite part was the water fountains!
Aidan experienced the craziness that is Chuck E. Cheese as well. He had a blast. I don't have pictures of him crawling through the gigantic tunnel system they have because I was in it with him. I think it was his favorite part, he kept wanting to go back inside and crawl around! There were some other climbers he had fun with and he pushed many many blinking buttons on the games :)
It snowed many times during our long stay. The snowfalls actually set new records there was so much! Scott and I helped our parents with shoveling alot but we thank God it was the light fluffy stuff and not the wet heavy stuff, so we never got the chance to make a snowman, the snow was too dry. It was great for sledding though! My parents have some great sledding hills at their house. We spent the second half of our stay at their house.
Christmas Eve dinner is a tradition in my family that involves food with strange names and interesting food but we always have fun with it. It's a Croatian thing! My dad mixing drinks
After dinner we went to Scott's parent's house for a Christmas Eve party. Aidan went for the food first. He ate a lot of sugar cookies on this trip actually!
Christmas day came and was filled with presents for Aidan. We felt very blessed to be with all of our family this Christmas and we loved spending time with them. We made some great memories.
We ended up staying in Wisconsin 3 days longer than planned because of the snow and to make a long story short we couldn't get home until New Year's Eve. So we spent that extra time relaxing and playing in the snow.
When we did get home it was 70 degrees(yes I know you all hate us for living in Florida) and it's still pretty warm, about 60. We spent one of our last days home before going back to work playing in the yard and raking up some leaves. Scott and Aidan had fun climbing the tree in our backyard.
Now we're back into our regular schedule and we've both been busy at work and spending time with Aidan at home. This weekend we plan on starting the demolition of our guest bathroom so we can remodel, we'll put up pictures of the finished product when it's done!
Happy New Year and we hope you all enjoyed the holiday season!
